Question...
I'm trying to make a barbwire or perhaps DNA type strand into a circle. I tried polar coordinates, but the strand loses its wave. I'll post a PSD in just a sec at http://www27.brinkster.com/fallasee/asylum/barb.psd

So, the question is this... how do I make the wavy line into a circle without losing any waviness?

Thanks guys!

You have to squish it more. I gave it a quick whack and I think it turned out fine, if it's what you are looking for.

First I merged the two lines. Then I copied it and hid one just in case. On the visible one, I hit ctrl + t and made 1/4 the size horizontally. Then I copied it and moved the copy next to the other one. Merge down, copy again, move into place, and merge down. Should now have two lines that are really wavy. Hit Polar Coords and tada.

The ones you have are basically two sine waves. You have to up the frequency, so to speak, for the waviness to look good with Polar Coords.

Umm... something like that.

WJ sussed it

Only thing I can never seem to do is get the ends to line up once I run the polar? (hence the little ring thingy covering up where they don't meet!). Is there some sort of trick to gettin the line ends to meet once the polar is done? *scratch* Make sure you up the amplitude of your wave!

VP, try adding Filter > Other > Offset to the mix. Make it tileable. Or you could touch it up by hand after the fact. Heh.

Fallacy, if you don't have enough waves after you run Polar Coords, you need to have more waves before you run Polar Coords. Does that make sense? Like VP said, you might want to up the ampitude as well otherwise it might be a bit too thin.
