Heh, I'm surprised warjournal didn't link his multi-stroking a path tutorial on Gurus.

Using that concept should also help you get some good results.

Actually, I was thinking more along the lines of using it to make those holes in the gear.

I suppose the biggest problem would be that the brush doesn't rotate with the stroke. However, it might work on a horizontal line and then polar coords.

It is a great tut, war. The concept alone was a lot of help to me.

You know, war, it might just be possible to make a passable cog using multi-stroke.



Although, I have to admit, the tutorial's method uses a lot less steps. hehe

Very not bad. I did one not too long ago with the same type of teeth. Too bad I can't find it.

Yeap. Squarish brushes don't rotate too well on a path. That's why I usually point people to a copy/rotate tutorial for gears and what-not.

I have used Polar Coords a few times. I find Polar Coords has better/easier control over number of teeth with out having to resort to Numerical Transform.

What I liked most about your tutorial was the fact that the technique was so useful. That's also why I liked Gurus so much. They don't have an enourmous amount of tuts because each tut teaches a really great technique. Great stuff.

Or one could use DarkGardens tut on circular type, replacing the letters with the square 'form'. This works very well, I've found out. BTW - like the tut on stroking a path as well. Kudos. I would post a result, but I'm at work right now...

yup neo frog but i tore up the edges more as the others looked too smooth, the textures etc looked cool but the teeth on a cog thats aged that much would show some kinds of wear, the only bit i felt let the tutorial down.
