Preserved Topic: Tech-Slop Displace almost done

I'm almost done with my Tech-Slop Displace tutorials/discussions. Almost got my original vision completed. My own little Magnum Opus.

I've still got 3 more pages to add. Two more to Curve It and Math 2.

I'm giving you folks the heads-up because I could use a little bit of help with the flow of things. I've been writing and updating in a vacuum, so I'm not sure how well they go. I'm too close to see them straight and make judgement calls. I could seriously use comments on the flow of things before Curve It.

When I get comments, I'll take notes and tuck them away for mauling over. Eventually I'll start using them for late night editing. I'm already suspicious of a few things that need some editing or expounding, but I would like to hear what you folks have to say.

I'm also thinking about adding quotes. I think it would be great to add a section with things that people have said about Tech-Slop. Be it "wow...", "I'm so confused", or "I can't believe it's not butter". Pretty much anything concerning Tech-Slop in general -- positive, negative, or goofball.

I'm also thinking about a gallery featuring pieces blatantly made with Displace. This idea is still up in the air.

I've already let a few people in on what's going on with Tech-Slop, and there has been some concern that I will dropping Tech-Slop all together. This couldn't be further from the truth. What I'm going to be dropping is writing stuff about Displace. Pending comments and such, the only updating to my Displace is basic editing -- no more re-arranging and no more long discussions. I will, however, keep writing non-Displace stuff when I get the bug. (Dont' tell Steve, but I'm serously thinking about writing a long piece on HSB/HLS and how they relate to PS.)

Have at it, folks, take your time, and talk back if you feel the need. Remember: just the stuff before Curve It. Maybe even toss out a few comments about Tech-Slop in general.

Hey, WJ, check your link. I think you pasted the wrong one.

that's an awesome amount of work, I'll enjoy thumbing through it.

I'd sincerely like to see a section-specific shoutbox for each section (or page for that matter) where you could leave comments or additions to your techniques for each area. Do you have access with your host to server side script parsing of any kind?

Wow. I've never actually counted pages before. Just over 30 pages total in Tech-Slop. Dang, how did that happen?

I have been thinking about a guestbook. Unfortunately, I only have basic SSI available to me. That's it. No real CGI of any kind and no PHP. I've already started looking for a hosted guestbook, but no luck so far finding something that I like. It's going to be awhile before I'm back with DreamHost and am able to implement all those cool things (car exploding and having a baby can really set things back for these kinds of things).

I really do like the idea of a shoutbox/comments at the bottom of each page. See above.

Perhaps someone will be willing to let me squat, but I'm very apprehensive about asking for several reasons. I don't know. If anybody is willing, drop me an e-mail and we'll talk about it.
