well, can ya? Say I make a work path, is there a way to flip the path so I have a mirror of it so I don't have to try and manually duplicate the path in reverse?

An example, the one I'm trying to do is a pair of hands, I'd like to make one and have a perfect mirror of it for the other.

I have only Photoshop to work with here so please don't tell me what I can do with Illustrator, that just might make me cry or something...

Ok, 1st the obvious - have tried, with the path active, to go to 'Edit > Transform > Flip Horizontal'? Haven't tried before, so I don't know.

2nd, if that doesn't work - Create a selection from the path, save it as a channel, flip the channel.

hmmm, RTFM did the trick:
Select Path
Edit/Transform Path/Flip Horizontal

That actually worked perfectly on this occassion. Going to have to experiment with this some more cuz I swear it didn't work so hot when I've tried it in the past, my test image was pretty simple and small, but it appears to be a *perfect* match. I'd had problems in the past with 'dimples' in lines that should have been straight or a nice smooth curve when I tried stroking or filling the path/custom shape later. I think this may have come from transforming/scaling selections via right click selection menu as opposed to the steps above.

If this works then it's gonna be hard to get me to buy Illustrator, I'm getting a lot out of PS on vector jobs lately. Hope HS isn't lurking about :P

mhmmm. PS gets weird when you try to do this. You have to have one of the pen tools (pen tool & its tool group, or the path component/direct selection tools) selected when you go to transform it. So if you have the move tool selected, it tries to flip the layer itself.

*shrugs*

So that's why the path looks different... Thanks for the tip Raptor.
