Yello all. I am Gaiden, pleasure to meet you all. I'll start my post count with this,
does anyone know any good tutorials or sites which refer to 'pixel art'? I mean like this: http://www.computerarts.co.uk/tutorials/type/tutorial.asp?id=32297

I wish to make a Site featuring an online comic in this style. All help is very much appreciated. Although the site I've provided doesn't quite go into the 'basics' of the art, if you get me.

Kind reguards,
~Gaiden~

alright heres a few things i came up with...

first of all the link u gave as an example uses photoshop and tells u to use the marque square thingy and fill wiht black for an outline, thats a bunch of time.. if u have PaintShopPro u dont have to worry about the pixels u paint on at a time bleeding to others like photohop and therefor u can just use the 1 pixel paint tool zoomed in with a 1 pixel grid..

This site is mostly dead/being redone.. but it has a few dcent tutorial reads: http://www.indie-rpg.net/pixel-zone/shtml/tutorials.shtml

This is a page u'll find on that page^^, a VERY LONG and GOOD tutorial.. i just didnt take the time to read it all.. it'll get your mind open atleast to the grasp of it all: http://pixeltutorial.cjb.net/

A good fairly active forum on pixel art ( mostly directed to sprites or "characters/people"): http://pixelation.swoo.net/
Practicing and participating with these people and their occasional challenges is a good way to improve skill

I myself do occasional pixel art and you can go to http://chudzta.deviantart.com and view my DA gallery and pick through th few there or go to the pixel art section and browse the ever growing gallery

a final word is that as long as u keep looking around and when u find a piece u like and it looks well done, save it , open it up and zoom and study it, procedure/execution is a big thing in pixel art, especially in iso form buildings and techinical parts like shading/shadowing/outlining

good luck , hope that helps some. - Chudzta

Welcome. Basically, sprite art is pixel art. A sprite is simply pixelart used for a game.

Uh, if you want to use PS to create "pixel art" (what a bullshit name, all digital art is pixelized...but nonetheless) just use the pencil tool. It doesn't "bleed" as someone put it. You hardly need PSP to do something this simplistic.

I thank you all very much for the excellent linkage! I was just going by the name given on the link I supplied...though I thought calling it 'pixel' art was alittle strange ^.^;;. Tis quite time consuming using the square marquee tool that much, and finding something alittle quicker has definatly helped along the way.
Again, Shanks alot!

yeah, DG is right, the 1px pen tool doesn't bleed at all. Check your options since ps6.0 added a whole bunch of "helpful" stuff.

Anyway, pen tool at 1px works fine for me.
