This is my first try a designing in frames. I only have a 15" monitor (here is a place where size counts) and I can't help the feeling that my frames will fall apart on 17"+ monitors. For those of you blessed with larger ones, I would appreciate you letting me know what it looks like. I would also like comments from everyone, even those lesser endowed.
Thanks
edit please include monitor size in your reply.)

first off... shufty is the same as a butchers hook!.. make sense? <img border=0 align=absmiddle src="http://www.ozones.com/forum/smile.gif">
on to your site... the first thing I noticed was that your bottom frame is empty? and shows just white?.. (spreads across the bottom of the whole page?) maybe your missing a page with just a black bg to fill it in.
I like you layout and also your graphics.. its different.. and for me attractive... if anything.. some of your graphics might just be a little to compressed.. just a tad blurry.. but that can happen with gifs.. its a trade off between download time and crispness... all in all 7 out of 10 !
nice mouse overs... ~Vp~
(butchers hook is cockney rhyming slang : clue)

Hi Vp,
Thanks, try it again if you get the chance. I made the table in the bottom 100% instead of a fixed pixel measurement. Also, which graphics in particular, I'm going to bring the martys designs stroke in the background up a bit, and the blue writing and the home graphic in the left frame up a bit also.
(sorry, must be a bit dense but I didn't solve the riddle)Give me another clue the next time

oh Ya! that looks much better butcher.. all black now.. cool...
when I was talking about the graphics, I was being general.. and its only a tiny thing.. bare in mind, my web puters monitor is a 5 year old 17" and is fairly burn't out so any blur may just be my end... like I mentioned.. I find gifs/jpgs can be a little bit like that if you over compress them... I shouldnt worry over it too much.. wait for a few more comments from other people........
I think your idea to brighten up some of the elements is good.. just go easy! less is more I always say...
one thing to play with sometime, try doing a version of your frames where you center the content instead of align right... you might like it and on a bigger monitor it puts space both left and right.. again.. no big sweat...
nice work...
EDIT: forgot the clue.. lol.. what rhymes with hook? and means to observe

its so heavy on the left side. theres not any sort of balance at all. the right side is way too empty. looks off balance.

Thanks Vp, glad to know that fixed the bottom. la'dsasha, so I know, what size monitor are you using? even though I'm concerned with how it looks in larger browsers, I still design my page to fit on the smaller ones, 640 pixels wide.
Thanks for the input.
back to the clue leer doesn't rhyme with hook, does it?)

I saw three "macintosh" in the background, but not a single "PC" that is not very fair, is it? <img border=0 align=absmiddle src="http://www.ozones.com/forum/wink.gif">
Actually, my opinion is that that backgound is perhaps a little too dominating. That is a reason why it looks heavy on the left, like la'dsaha said. I think I would make that less visible, and maybe even put a gradient on it so it kinda disapperas when it goes from left to right.
I am not really sure I understnad your use of frames... I guess the "left" frame is just there so that part will not scroll on the sub pages? But as you have scrolling set to no on everything, that makes little sense. Also, it looks a bit strange how the background of the main page is reapeating itself to the right, with those words being chopped off in the middle.
Do you really need to left frame at all? Would it not be easier with just a top, middle and bottom frame? Or maybe a frame to the right that is there to fill out the blank on high resolutions, and prevent the background from repeating.
The rollover for the "gallery" seems to be a bit different than the others, since it moves a pixel or so to the side.
I am not sure I like those buttons much at all though... but that is just my personal taste. They are a bit too blurry, and have too many different colours.
The general look of the page is good though <img border=0 align=absmiddle src="http://www.ozones.com/forum/smile.gif">

LOL.. nope not leer... try look! hehe butchers hook.. look... and so hence.. shufty is another slang word for look... the mist lifted
L'dasha is saming the same as I did in my last post.. on a larger monitor everything is over to the left... you can still design for 640 x 480 if you want, but if you centralise your main content frame, it will cneter the whole thing on a larger monitor... and should still look the same on a smaller 15" @ 640 x 480.. just less of a black filling left and right... on a larger monitor at higher res's your page will stilll be centered but just with more black filling.. kinda balances out everything is all...
cheers

Thanks zox, I did the left frame with the rest of the site in mind. The rest of the site will make use of the left frame remaining static except for one image, and the main frame changing to view different images or information, even a sliding layer that will disappear under the left frame. Would it work if I lose the background, and make it part of the images?
edit,
Vp, I tried messing aroun with centering the top frame just to see if I could get the nav buttons to center when I went full screen, but to no avail. If you have any words of wisdom on this subject, I would be forever grateful, (at least untill I have another problem I need help with).

try a frameset that has 3 columns and 3 rows... your intersecting 2nd column and 2nd row would contain your nested frameset that is your actuall page.. the content of the other external frames would be blank pages with a black bg and no fixed size and no scrolling.....
sounds complicated.. maybe some other people here might be better at explaining frames than me.. heheheh
my idea is that your nested frameset would float and be central regardless of monitor size and resolution.. ...
