makes me think of Topaz (as in the gem) has a great texture and a kinda warm feeling to it... as to whether I would want to hold it???.. hmmmmm... rofl

I think the lettering if blended better into the surface would be better.. to my old eyes the text looks just a little detached, but overrall its very good (o:

yeah, i think VP is onto something with the text - maybe use some layer blending modes, or somethign...
and to me, it doesnt REALLY look REAL... maybe you could try for a 'glassier' look....
but it does look pretty cool, and i like your font...

That's a SWEET texture&gem! The only things I don't like are the blue and the cheap layer effects on the text. But the gem rules.

Thanks for your comments. Actually Mahjqa, there are no layer effects on the text, just two separate layer with one slightly blurred and offset. But I'll try and fiddle around with the text a little to see what happens. Maybe inset text would look better, dunno yet.

pretty sweet rotren.

I think the text would look best as if it were encsed within the gem (or whatever it is).

Did you have something like this in mind, VP and DL-44?

I llike that alot better Rotren... looks great how the text is almost carved into the surface...

I think DL-44 was meaning that the text would look good also as if it were embedded within the object... a bit like a fossil embedded in Amber.. remember that dinosaur movie when they extracted dna from a mosquitoe trapped in amber?.... same sort of concept... aplogises for speaking for you DL-44, thats how I interpreted your suggestion anyhoo

very nice Rotren... a keeper

i reckon that one is the best yet. nice work!
yeah, i think if you searched the photoshop forum/archive for "wood inlay" or something like that, you may find stuff like what they are talking about.
its one wicked thread.

looks pretty good, but VP is right -- encased like a fly in amber so to speak is what I meant, and would be really cool
