It's Sunday, you're bored, you need to slack.
Well Pixelflo loves ya bay bee, we're all about filling your needs. heh.
Cal and I "reskinned" the site with two new splash page openers featuring "little flo" our new mascot, and a complete facelift to the interface. (refresh the preload page to see the blue and orange versions)
Where? http://pixelflo.com of course.
Fun stuff.
Go waste time, and eat our bandwidth like candy

Hmm, you should give some sort of indication (other than the status bar message) that things are being preloaded in the splash screen... oh, there, once the window opened, *after* everything had loaded, the loading bar appeared.
It's nice, but its so hard to see where buttons end and start, the lines aren't well defined. Sorry, I know you didn't ask for a review, but here i am giving you one anyway. =) Thing is, if I hadn't been here before, I wouldn't be able to find the navigation buttons in the lower left, or figure out what anything did, it's very confusing. I'm not really crazy about the mascot.
Aside from those few things, I like the new look. Good job again. =)

Slimer: It loaded after the window launched? Hmm
What browser and platform please. We'll get right on it
Good point about the bottom navigation, I'll look at including a little textual pointer in the bottom bar.
No need to be sorry, good critiques are always welcome
Thanks man.

IE 5.0 win '98...
as I remember it, I first loaded the page, then found the enter link and clicked it, thinking it was the way to enter (as it was). then i realized that the first window had been loading the page, so I closed the popup and refreshed the first window. The splash page reloaded, and I waited. (56 K modem)
After maybe 20 seconds, the popup appeared, and the page inside it started loading, there was no noticeable lag between the page itself loading and the images appearing, so the images had been successfully preloaded. Just after the window opened, I could see back on the splash page, the little horizontal loading bar appeared and started to grow at a constant rate to it's maximum size, reaching that size in about five seconds.
Hope that helps. =)

I love the new mascot - I agree with Slime about the navigation though....little vague, and more importantly » it doesn't work for me! I see the mouseover color change...but I get no cursor change, and when I click them nothing happens. When I right-click them, the 'open link' and 'open link in new window' options are not available.
For the record, IE 5.5 on win98 SE. Never used to have any problems with the site...
p.s. - same is true for the 'mailing list' link and the email links at the top (the head icons).

DL, stop drinking before surfing man.
heh
We tested it first on IE 5.5 Win 98SE...it's not supposed to cursor change..we cheat like that...but the navigation should work..especially if the old one did..it's the same
Shall check it out though.

Gotta gree with Slime back up thee a few posts back... and i'll give you the twist from a "userSTUPID" pov.
really liked the 'visual' end of it all. like tone on tone, but if you were asking me to jump in somewhere... didn't see it. as for the tone on tone.... the 'orange?' was, to me, just a bit pale...if you will. should someone be in a well lighted room... it would I think 'washout'...
can't pass comment on what might be going on in the way of coding.... don't know a lick of it. so again... my pov... is absolutely from someone who might hit the site for the first time. also provide demographic as in mid 50's... and as a *target* you perhaps don't care. but again.... i liked what i *saw*
