Preserved Topic: Preliminary stage Site redesign

Ok gfx crew,
I am currently working on a site redesign of a corporate web presence that needs a lot of work. The whole site is going to be ripped down (format, structure, layout, funtions, etc.) and needs to maintain some sort of identity. So what i did so far was create an image of what i thought would look good. Not much work has been done yet because i wanted to get a few opinoins (non-corporate) before i start chopping it up.

I almost like the original better then the redesign .. btw .. is the 'Site Index' button suppose to duplicate itself 3 times and become larger in the process

I do like the new layout .. it's really hard to decifer a difference .. I mean .. they are both very clean layouts and both have good and bad points

OH OH OH .. I know why I don't like the second layout as much .. because you have different size buttons .. but you are just experimenting with size and legible buttons .. both look very good .. and the buttons are very clean and all are very legible

hey RammStein, thanks for the input, more positive than i expected.

Oh i forgot to mention why I placed those buttons everywhere... I wanted to test the differences in legibility, thanks for noticing! The reason for the redesign is because the origional layout has no flow, and leaves no room for expansion. i may in the end keep the origional as the welcome page.
- any objection to my 'pill' style use? overdone? use of white space? background?
