Hmmm... I've always thought of "philosophy" as kind of a personal thing. What do you think about "sex in high school"? I'm not sure exactly how we could help you here; taking a survey of public opinion would be more along the lines of social science, rather than philosophy.

As a starting point, though, I suppose you should consider whether "sex in high school" means sex on school grounds or school time, or just sex involving people of high school age. Huge difference in subjects there--one could end up being a legal argument, while the other would just be a question of morality. I imagine the latter is probably what you're supposed to deal with, and if that's the case you need to dig inside yourself and find out what you think about the subject.

Good luck!

Well, tell us your thoughts so far first (you do have some thoughts, don't ya?). Then we can debate them a bit here maybe. It will take some time, though, to get a sizeable number of responses. We're not talking a deadline of tommorrow are we?

I agree that you ought to be more detailed about your intentions / opinions... but assuming that you will - and you want to be pointed in the right direction, for some research...? I suggest Tom Wolfes Hooking Up - think its just the first chapter, but take a look!

It discusses *young people* and their attitudes towards sex..The whole first base, second base, thing seems to have dramatically shifted - and well, theres a funny reference to Bill C*****n / Monica Lewinsky to support the views that those pesky young kids are saying... check it out...

See if you can get your hands on a book called:

"Sex in the time of generation X" Gabrielle Morrissey, ISBN: 0 7329 0862 0

It's about sex in the nineties but a lot of what she talks about is still very relevant now. The book's not really philosophical but it is targeted towards the younger audience that you'd be writing about. It's also a rather interesting read, well when I was 17 it was.

Good luck with your essay.
