Did Baretta (Robert Blake) kill his wife? Your thoughts/opinions?

I'll let the courts pass judgement. However, if they find him guilty, I'll have to re-assess the level of intelligence I'd credited the man. I mean to offer up, "I'd left my gun back at the restaurant, and had to go back to get it." as your alibi... It's not exactly the wisest excuse for being elsewhere when your wife is killed.

I'll be very interested to hear the prosecution's full case. From what little I've heard so far, it does not look good for Blake.

Well, apparently Shattner did it, and got away with it...as did Simpson...so why not Blake? Yeah, let's play celebrity 'kill our Spouses'....sick, just plain sick. *shakes head*

Shatner? I hadn't heard anyone accuse him of doing it, just that he didn't do enough to save her. Simpson had one very important quality going for his defense, that Blake lacks. Blake will not be able to use the race card so I think he's basically toast.

I heard some interesting points this morning. Apparently Blake had been going to that restaurant for years 2 to 3 times a week. The night his wife was murdered, he made reservations there for the first time in all those years. I also heard that sometime during the night he had gotten sick in the restroom. This is all circumstantial, of course, but the whole case against will have to be since there are no eye witnesses to the actual crime.

I firmly believe that Shatner just paused, for dramatic effect, too long while trying to save his wife.

Things aren't looking too bright for the Baretta star.

'Yes your honor, at the time she was murdered I was inside looking for my gun.' isn't the solid defense his lawyers were probably searching for.

Yep, I'm with Skaarjj. And is this William Shatner you guys are talking about? As in William "Spock... get this... phaser... out of my... anal... passage" Shatner? Man, I am so out of the loop these days it's not funny.

Well *someone* shot her in the head and it is important that society find out who. We are speculating, but doing so on the evidence being brought to the courts as the justice system slogs forth.

It's always interesting to me to see how "society" feels entitled to certain universal occurences.

Truth....Justice. Whores to a dead age really...if it ever existed. Law doesn't really depend on or comingle with either in the long run. There is one inextricable "truth" here: Bonny Lee Bakley is dead, and nothing you or anyone can do is going to change that.

So, mete your judgement, or pray for justice?

Those who believe in a "God" usually have the stock answer from me...."just wait". Those who don't, well they get the sardonic smirk, and "So why is it any of your business anyway?"

In the wild, animals that feed in frenzy on dead meat are called scavengers. They are seen as the lowest form of bottom dweller, existing only to be nature's garbage disposal. Maybe a moment of silence might serve better than a shriek of accusal.

Then again, maybe a moment of thought might serve better than a lifetime of feeding.

Pretty long note to say that it ain't my place to say, I suppose...pretty obscure one to say it ain't yours either. Now..I have some steak to broil...wanna join?

We agree to live in "society" for our mutual benefit. Tracking and responding to certain behaviors of society's members is part of the deal. This means that it becomes society's business when certain limits are exceeded, in this case the murder of one of our own, Bonny. It won't bring her back but it's not meant to.

obviously we dont all agree to live within Societies bounds Bugs, else this murder (or any for that matter) would not occur. Some live on the edge of and enjoy the fruits of both

Yeah, that is way true. I think that is precisely why society feels entitled to go after some behaviors rather than others. I don't like people sticking their nose into my life anymore than anyone else does but some of that is necessary *if* we're going to all live together. I guess that's how I've always viewed society... a necessary mechanism to allow us to live together practically without being at each other's throats all the time.

DG: I would like to point out that humans see scavengers as "the lowest form of bottom dweller." Nature has no opinion.

Damn, I forgot my point... oh well.

Now just throw in some gun control, add a bit of religion, a discourse on democracy and we can bake a cake. Ain't life wonderful?
