I've downloaded the UBB6 demo version, uploaded it and went to configure it and nothing is configurable?!? Every daggum thing I do on it is disabled in the demo version. Looks good and easy to set up but I'd really like to check out the features before I shell out a liscense fee for it. Anybody know a way around this? |

I believe that UBB demo version is crippled (i.e. the code for most functions don't even exist), so there's no way to enable them. Anyway, if you're really willing to pay for forum software, I would suggest you to try vBulletin instead (PHP/MySQL combo). Also, if you want something similar to UBB and free, take a look at the IkonBoard. Oh, I almost forgot, there's also a very good forum written in ASP called Snitz Forums. |

The reason it's crippled the way it is is because some people were pretty much turning it into the full blown version. If you want to see the full version in it's glory, it's running at Gurus Network. I have almost all of the options turned on. |

I *think* I've been there Pugzly... I wanna see the admin side, it's all non-existant in the trial. |

ubb is also slower and more bloated. it puts everything into flat files, which must be "trimmed" every so often. any forum can be customized to be easy to admin, it just depends on who wrote it. |

Ya mon, the only one I got to look at so far was vBulletin and it looks sharp as a tack. You can be sure I'll look at them all before I shell out the bucks for anything. |
