Well, I've finally decided to start learning Java.

Just wondering what the best way to go about would be....

I've gotten myself this book called "Java - A framework for programming and Problem Solving" by Kenneth A. Lambert and Martin Osborne. I've heard it's a really good beginner?s book and it's use as a 1st year programming text in many computer science courses.

Any pitfalls I should be looking out for? I've always been a little scared of learning Java. I don't really know why though. Programming isn't my forte, nor am I any good at math. Although I haven't had too much trouble learning Javascript and PHP...

eh, time to leap I suppose...

Just don't miss Sun's tutorials. I think it is a great resource for beginners like us.

We have done so.
Now Tyberius Prime expects him to start complaining that we removed his 'free speech' since this message will replace all of his posts, past and future.

Hey InI, weren't you toying around with the idea of making a web based photoshop type app?

Seen this yet: http://java.sun.com/products/java-media/2D/samples/java2demo/Java2Demo.html

I mean damn, I didn't think Java was ~that~ powerful. Although that app was coded by a team of about 20 different people.
