The poster has demanded we remove all his contributions, less he takes legal action.
We have done so.
Now Tyberius Prime expects him to start complaining that we removed his 'free speech' since this message will replace all of his posts, past and future.

InI: Will do - thanks for the update.

I was advising someone on their computer problems a the weekend and it was clearly Blaster but I notice you say:

quote:
HOWEVER, and this is fresh too, but came to me from rumours and networking experts,
a new brand of viriis, sequels to the terrible Blaster, are said to be on their way to your pc.

Has it arrived yet and would it be mistaken for Blaster? This had all the right symptoms and I've not heard back from the guy so I expect it to have been fixed but if not..........

Don't you guys have Windows Update automatically set up to alert you when there are new critical updates available?

Mine has and it was the day before yesterday that it warned me about new patches. There is no harm in letting WU warn you when there is new stuff to update your OS.

yeah, I've given in to this^ monitoring as well. I am however just waiting for the day MS gets hacked and the WUVirus decimates the planet through their very own updat0r. Wee.

You're afraid of it but then, when you got to know about it in some other way, you go there and download it.
It doesn't make much of a sense.
The window that pops up just tells you that there is a critical update available. It's not going to download it without your permission, it's not going to install it without your permission. If you can't trust even a service like this in WinXP, then you can't trust WinXP at all, better to use some other OS. If any job that your computer may be doing can be compromised by such a window popping up (or by the previous Internet communication between your computer and WU), then you have a serious problem with your computer: it is less trustable than WinXP itself.

InI, I never told you your choices aren't yours.
What I told everybody that's reading this thread (not only you) was that I don't agree with your choice (that seems to be shared by many others, BTW).
Not agreeing with your choice doesn't mean that you are wrong and I am right, it means that we think differently, and this is perfectly normal. I wanted people to look at the issue of insecurity in Windows in a different point of view than yours.
I think more sex or some other sports would do great for you too.
