Stripeless Zebra Puzzles Experts
Stupid experts, everybody knows that the stripes on Zebras are painted by locals to entertain the tourists.

On the other hand, Daddy Zebra must be puzzled too

Finally the big question was answered: zebras are white animals with black stripes.

I'm picky, but until we make sure this one is not an albinos zebra, the big question is still open.

But its not a stripeless zebra it just has white stripes (hmmmmmmmm good name for a band) or white stripes on a black background

In cats its called solid or self:

And is the main cause of all white tigers and black leopards.

Whats the big deal, its an Albino.
Must be a slow news day.

Apparently Zebras use the stripes to tell individuals apart in the herd.
This is a fact.

I am told from a reliable source, that there is a prophecy amongst the Zebras
that a striples massiah will come and lead all the herds to a great pasture with no predators
and long tasty grassblades.
This is a fabrication.

Wulfius, they haven't gotten close enough to determine its gender.
I would assume that means that they haven't gotten close enough to determine if it is indeed an albino. You know, check its eyes and stuff.
Chances are that it is an albino, but some scientist-types like to be 100% certain on some things.

I don't get it. Your fabrication aside, how can you claim that something is 'apparently' true in one sentence, the definitiion if which is that you hold doubts about its authenticity but are prepared to believe it, for now; and then in your next sentence categorically say 'this is a fact'? Don't you see the big contradiction there?

Thanks for your invaluable critique Skaarjj.
English is my second language, therefore I always look at opportunities to hone it.
However, after looking at the dictionary definition;
http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=apparently

Two of the meanings leave no doubt about the credibility, and only the third one casts a shadow of a doubt.
As such, to anwser your query, no, there is no contradiction.

Wulfius: There is a bit of a difference between "apparent" and "apparently" in terms of nuance. If you preface a statement with "apparently," you are basically saying: "It would appear that..."--in other words, something along the lines of "from what I can tell," or "it is likely the case," or something to that effect.

So, strange as it might seem, most native English speakers will perceive a difference between "It is apparent that" (which most people would equate with "it is obvious that"--ie, something that anyone can plainly see is true) with "Apparently...." It's not something that would be readily obvious from looking at a dictionary, and I'm not even sure if there's a grammatical basis for it, but that's the way many people will see it.

For a second language, though, you speak (er, write) English exceptionally well.
