first off TP & co - you should be VERY proud of what you've achieved. You've done something VERY cool here...

My job is a Biz Analyst - implementing IT systems, in place of old legacy ones - and the ideal situation is having a client that is happy to see system/process/interface change. You've not had this luxury - and often rebuilding the crap bits of an old system is very frustrating - esp. when the client is demanding it for no good reason. So well done for building like-for-like but with countless improvements.

I've just noticed the fading box that holds link buttons and stuff at the bottom of every page - very GN design-style.. a cool subtle crossover.

Your JS for UBB/smilies etc will be copied for years to come - textareas will never be the same again. (Perhaps you'd agree to add it to Doc's Snippets?)

OH - my bug/feedback report:

On the main forums list, you see the number of posts per forum.. cool. However, I *think* that the number should be centred in the column? I might be wrong but it doesn't quite look perfect :-)

I haven't read why the user Post Counts have been removed.. I think its a good thing.. but not 100% sure.. Making kids wear a school uniform means they can't show off how cool/expensive their clothes are, and makes it easier to appear equal with the kewl kids - BUT it also means that you can't look cool ;-) (did that make sense?)

Really good work,

Pete

and school uniforms also means you're on the way to becoming a goog mindless democratic drone citizen.... just another number.

thanks for the praise, we'll check wether it looks better with the number centered.

Actually, with most tabular data it's convention to make numeric columns right justified (actually, this happens most places, including caculators) so the smallest units will always lign up. We may read left - > right, but our numbering system reads from smalles to largest in the opposide direction, so it should be justified to the opposite margin.

... just thoguht I'd throw that in, it's not that big of an issue either way.

TP - for the record, your statement just agreed with the sentiment that removing post counts was not necessarily a good thing.

well, if you'd want to go the route of flawed analogies, wouldn't post count be more like the stars teacher's give to stundents when they got the right answer, while school uniforms would equal signatures?

Hmm......no, post counts would be more like the attendence that teachers keep, and the grade level they are in, and signatures would be more like the t-shirts the kids wear, since if they were a uniform, they'd all be the same.
