The poster has demanded we remove all his contributions, less he takes legal action.
We have done so.
Now Tyberius Prime expects him to start complaining that we removed his 'free speech' since this message will replace all of his posts, past and future.

Hmmm...no...I get the feeling we've got a genuine question here. This one isn't screaming 'troll' at me. There's no defamatory comments, or things meant to anger, or anything weird about it. It just seems like a question from a guy who's having trouble installing a second HDD

I just installed a new harddrive.
Booted and it was found. Drivers even installed.
However, it wasn't showing up in File Explorer.
Reboot and do that setup thing.
Yes, it's in there.
Let the boot finish, but it still isn't showing up in File Explorer.

Enter Google with this:

Worked dandy.
Formatting right now.

I've got mixed feelings about that.
Long story. Heh.

Didnt have time to read through the links here,

Here's a quick guide:

Your harddisk with your system files on it (windows) should be your master disk) Make sure its connected to the first edge connector from the ide controller end of the ribbon cable, it must remain jumpered as master (most hard disks have a little diagram of where to put the connector)

Assuming that you are connecting the second disk to the same cable, again look at the diagram, place the connector over correct pins, plug ya power cord in and you should be set to go.

Switch on PC go into bios to make sure that hard disk is visible...

ok all good so far then boot ya system...

Go to control panel, system> hardware make sure that you can see the drive there...

ok here is sometimes where the problems start in windows 2000 or xp, it doesnt appear in windows explorer....

Go back to control panel> Administrative tools> Computer management>and fire up the disk management section....

what you need to do is assign a drive letter to that hard disk....

once ya have done that close the computer management tool. go back to windows explorer and your hard disk should be there, ready to format

the same goes if you have partitioned it, both partitions (or more sometimes need drive letters assigning)

one other bit of advice, if you are planning on connecting your hard disk to a cable with a cdrw/dvd/ dvd recorder on it aswell, its best to put those devices as masters and the second hard disk as a slave...

anyway, didnt have time to read through the links everyones thrown in here, but this is just a quick guide to get ya up n running..
hope it helps
