But it can, depending on the amount of haze or dust in the air. Take a flash picture of the sky at night and all you'll get is a dark haze. The same thing can show up in someone else's long exposure. I was just in Carlsbad Cavern two weeks ago and people would use their flash in front of my long exposure and I'd have to shoot it over again. It's worse when they were actually in the shot.
