Don't take it as being a nightmare, the site is about on average with a huge portion of what is out there on the web, we just don't accept average here, not when there is the potensial for the extraordinary. It is very hard to come up with a "good" design (look at my site for example, its not all that good). The rest is simply customization. Did I mention don't try and do something "different"?
