Hi all, its been a while.

I have a site here, not one that ive done but one im taking a look at and just want to know what people feel about it. Its a flash based sight *which* i personally try to avoid.

Im curious what people think of it basically because there is alot about it that annoys me, a small frame for whatevre content there is, a menu that is initially hidden (the hands up the top are the menu). Just general things i personaly would consider bad practice, but im not sure if other people feel the same

Also does anyone have any idea how a website like this would fare in a search engine, there is really only one html file etc.

yes it also has a slow loading intro and looping music.. (which i wanted to turn off after about 2 seconds)

well - the music is annoying, I needed to look thrice to find the 'sound off' button - the menu is horrible, the images in the lower left corner flash when you move over them but don't do anything visible on click, the content area is very small... and searchengines usually don't like flash at all.

Wow is the music annoying. I couldn't find it but I randomly clicked on the logo and it turned off.

There is no use being nice about this site, it is terrible. There is no proper use of white space which just makes it hard to read. There is too much useless shit going on in the content area, which makes it near impossible to pay attention to the content. You can mouse over the boxes, but it doesn't do anything.

The menu is the worst. How are you suposed to actually find anything? I can't even read the items when you mouse over.

I just can't say much more. Try again, this is awful.

I think that anyone on Ecstacy would thoroughly enjoy this site. I guess that's the site's demographic anyway.

If i was on XTC i would do something else as watching some site heh..
For sites like this i have flashblock installed in firefox.

Some suggestions:
-Stop the music completely or add an start/stop button (let it be quit by default)
-Remove the flickering images on the left site. (the images could stay but in an gallery or som sort and whitout the flickering)
-Do NOT use a flash based nav-system
-Make an useful nav-system with proper names/icons. (Which are also visible when you not mouse over them.
-Use space for the content section.
-Make it liquid.

Hi all, i might not have pointed out clearly that currently this isnt my site, but is due for a revamp.

I was thinking along the same lines as you guys, but i just wanted to make sure that i was correct. I guess i had some thoughts that "well maybe its kind of ok because the site is for a club, and they could require a different kind of site".

But yeh as you have said it breaks really simple rules, pretty badly.

What i intend to do is recreate the site with a XHTML/CSS layout, with flash embedded if required. There is no way i would put looping music in it like that, however i may put some sort of intro that you might experience at a club *only* if it works as intended once i try it.

I didn't even realize that those floating hands were the nav menu, I just thought there were decoration. But when TP and WarMage mentioned that the menu was bad, I had to go looking for it.

Had no trouble looking for the sound off button, but IMO, any music on a site is annoying, and that is a bad loop to boot.

The flash on the left side isn't that bad, but I agree that the flashing on mouseover makes me think that they should be links of some sort.

Yeh i was wondering when i moved my mouse over the flash also, it looks like its meant to do something. Tho it just seems like it could cause epileptic fits....
