Topic awaiting preservation: Best way to start a sig.... (Page 1 of 1)

I used to cruise this forum WAY back in the day, so technichally I am not a newb.... I know a little bit about PS. If I had to classify myself, I would say intermediate.

Anyways my question is, specifically for this forum, what are the best ways to start my project? IE Width, Heighth, Resolution, Color Mode, etc. And finaly, What are the best settings for saving to get a good transparencies (w/o the "jaggies")?

there was this bit in the FAQ about the background colors for this place... and from there you can check out transparency stuff.

as for sig restrictions, it's my understanding that anything under 50x400 is a good thing. clearly, if you take a look at other inmates sigs, not everyone follows those rules. and less than 30k or 50k can't remember which... either way, make it as small file wise as possible since there are still inmates on dial up. preferably something that will go with the colors of the asylum.
obviously, if you make some bright white page scrolling monster, you'll be hung out the tower window by your piggies.

definitely try some stuff out and throw it up here for crits. people tend to be more helpful when they've got something to look at

What's the best way to start a sig? With an idea, I would think. Sigs are all about good ideas... details like file size and pixel size come later. And I think it's good to remember that there are no hard and fast "rules," just guidelines.

Do you have a specific idea for a sig that you're working on now?
