The browser looks at the doctype only to determine which of its own internal rules to follow, as opposed to actually referring to the doctype definition. I would definately like more info on this though, as it has been too long since I've read up on the specifics... Rob - I've played around a little bit, but need to refine some things before it's worth showing to you.
