Me and my temper, this said... apologies HZR, I've been a bit harsh in my answer: but I love good information. As valuable as your input on xml questions has been, to me even, the process of parsing html should not be misconsidered: it is not a matter of simply slurping tags. It's interesting to check that nsparser code and see Mozilla recognizes a lot of dtd declarations. Also, some special dtds (IBM's custom dtd - see the links I gave) require special parsing directives, relying on different text encoding standards even. So for "standards mode", there is not one canonical way to parse a canonical dtd: Mozilla, even in standards mode, has to fiddle with dtd specialties to get a proper result.
