After visiting a few Diablo2-related websites I started getting popups and prompts of installing some other crap. Running adaware does not solve the problem. Even after latest update, adaware cannot cleanse the computer entirely and some things are left. I do not exclude the possibility that those things that are left give rise to other things which can be removed. Virus scan did not find anything.

The best solution to the problem up to date is formatting C drive. But that is almost like using cannon to kill a mosquito and I am in search of a more efficient solution.

I ask for an advice on how to remove the adware/spyware entirely, and how to secure my system from those pests entering it in the future. I use and would like to continue to use IE6, but apparently its very vulnerable to spam. Please give me a working solution.

Maybe give Spybot a try before you reformat. When I installed Spybot it found a lot of stuff that was missed by Adaware so it is worth a try.

Prevention - Install a firewall and use Firebird or for that matter NS. My daughter use NS and I use FB and we haven't had any problems since we made these changes.

I only use IE for testing pages and that is it .

Zonealarm has a free version and it works great.

Not the greatest advice but .....

The poster has demanded we remove all his contributions, less he takes legal action.
We have done so.
Now Tyberius Prime expects him to start complaining that we removed his 'free speech' since this message will replace all of his posts, past and future.
Don't follow his example - seek real life help first.

They have a free online scanner.

I don't get much spyware. Im behind two firewalls and a virusscanner. Im mostly secure.
