But before I agreed with that I thought you could have all the content in one div and do a double green border like before. Place two divs with yellow background float left & float right . Position a "artificial" border repeat-y on either one of the divs edges like url(2GREENLINE.gif) or something of the sort . I'm sure you get the jist of what i'm heading towards.
