I know RSS is a form of xml. I am working on a site that offers coupons to consumers. We are giving the audience and option to enter their email addresses to receive notices on special coupons, etc.

how can RSS be beneficial to us? if at all . . .

Thanks.

Typically what your doing doesnt need RSS, are you sending them newsletters or something with the special coupons?

RSS is only required if you want to share your data about the coupons perhaps with other sites. I wouldnt say so tho... its mostly used for news and technology information etc, where u can submit it to an RSS engine and people can check all the stuff out, put the feeds on their sites etc...

All you may want to do is automate the procedure, so you need to store the contents off the coupons somewhere, if this is XML, a database, or even RSS then it doesnt matter. All its doing it storing data.
