If you havn't noticed, she likes pandas.

I am thinking of doing a number of additions:

  • Jitter of motion using Perlin noise
  • Controlling blinking with Perlin noise
  • Making the features REAL 3D, on the outside of the spheroid, not artificially so.
  • Making it do cute things if clicked on
  • Yawning and falling asleep if left alone for a while

We shall see.

We have done so.

I have this problem where the status bar flashes between "Downloading picture leye.gif", "reye.gif", and "blink.gif". The eyes aren't visible, either. This is probably related to my slow connection not downloading the images fast enough to get them before the animation starts. I recommend you preload the images before you start changing .src's.

I had this same problem with that raycasting game thingy I found on your site.

Yup. It is indeed the case. If you refresh, it usually fixes.

However, it is a moot point, since I uploaded a new version with preloading anyway. This one puts the panda in a box and it only follows the mouse if it is in the box. It also uses a "sloppy focus" technique (not to be confused with the one for X11 or Windows or whatever), so that the panda's movements are more smooth.

If the preloading doesn't work, can I please be corrected? I have never attempted it before.

Oh, and InI, it's panda's and bunnies, not wallabies. Wallabies were from before I met her, hehehe.

Now in SVG vector format.

You will need to have an SVG plugin for either MSIE or Firefox, and since my webserver has no idea what an SVG MIME-type is, you will have to download it to your hard drive first, too.

On the upside, it is MUCH smoother, MUCH prettier, and MUCH smaller (3.5k as opposed to the previous ~45k).

Further updated SVG version. No longer needs to be downloaded, but you will still need the SVG plugin.

New updates:

  • Real 3D
  • Smaller code
  • Blinking is randomized as well

Still working at it, but I like where it's going.

Thanks for all the kind comments!

I hear that SVG Viewer 3.0 was terrible. The current version is 6.0.
