The poster has demanded we remove all his contributions, less he takes legal action.
We have done so.
Now Tyberius Prime expects him to start complaining that we removed his 'free speech' since this message will replace all of his posts, past and future.
Don't follow his example - seek real life help first.

i echo the sentiments of you know who, above.
i only use the free stuff. (AVG, Zone Alarm, Tweaked Windows 98SE, free
online virus/trogan/spyware/scans/common sense/etc...) and in the five
years i've been using computers i've only been hit once by a search
hi-jacker.

i only started using AVG a few months ago, and hardly ever online. mostly just as a precautionionary check-up.

guess i'm just not a very good target.

or not easy enough - ask my girlfriend!.

I feel sorry for your G/F... She needs a real man like me

I have an AV/FW and I have been hit by a couple of trojans, virii, ect... Nothing is secure... Even with software... Even if you disable ports, and everything else, you are still on the recieving end of hell itself, no matter what you do.

Yeah, yeah SS, and a floppyless, internetless, cdless device with a monitor in a basement is a realistic perspective.
Even then, you can be spied, or glitches with an action similar to viriis, as stated above, can damage your system,
and with the same kind of tools one could use to monitor the electronic
activity of your system, allowing him to "guess" and copy your
oh-so-secure files,
one could also influence your pc, alter it's behavior. In a random way, granted, but intentionally.

Ask any security expert about it, and not only informatic security
experts, the notion of imperfection is inherent to security since
security means a controlled interaction between two parties, would it be a human and a computer.

As for wether you do need antivirii or not, if needing is a consequence of having to adapt oneself to his environment,
then I choose to add that little extra security to prevent problems
with a hostile environment (as opposed to patching, repatching, turning
off services,
monitoring ports all the time).

As for wether you do want an antivirus, it's all up to you.

Sure, I'll take some popcorn...

Wow, Sh**ting Star - you have yet again more than adequately expressed your obviously palpable grievances in a manner befitting the nature and subject your very own sentiments. Such a patent example of the appropriate manner in which not to air one's heart-felt objections. Well done!

Actually SS, I got the impression that you'd need help reading it if I juggled the context a little - which both amused me and satisfied some wicked spark of evil deep down in my corrupt and blackened soul...
...it was oddly unsatisfying, to be honest. I'll just have to settle for laughing at you from here while I torture an effigy of you with various sharp objects.

Sheesh - talk about going off topic.

The discussion is antivirus software - not how many times you can use profanity out-of-context and off-subject per post.

All I ever see of your posts is inept flaming and bickering. Do you actually have a point?

If you say you've been riding for years and never had an accident, then I'm happy for you - but WTF has that to do with the subject? My mention of it was as a analogy, so you can't blame me for your inability to see another's point.

The unfortunate problem with computer virii is that they don't respect you for travelling along the information superhighway at ten miles-per-hour, nor do they ignore you just because your machine is only parked on the shoulder - connect to the internet and you'll be lucky if you don't get port-scanned within the first few minutes (I've intercepted three from a location in Washington just this week).

My firewall deals with the port scan attempts, but should I have a lapse and let something through, it is nice to know that my AV gives me a fighting chance of detecting and removing a problem before it becomes an issue.

Now, what exactly is it about all this that you find so d-i-f-f-i-c-u-l-t to u-n-d-e-r-s-t-a-n-d? There is nothing to disagree with here:
Just because you haven't had an accident, doesn't mean you shouldn't wear a helmet - it's so simple that even you should be able to accept it without taking offence at the possibility of learning something.

*sheesh*

thanks for setting me straight white crock

but next time why not just be more explicit, as i do ..you asshole..instead of mincing words and spewing out your venom under the guise of wit when you know all you're really capable of is stringing together some self-indulgent pedantic bullshit, the puerile and sophomoric babblings of a feeble mind who doesn't have a clue and shall remain clueless due to having his head shoved so far up his ass that he can't see the light of day...

edit: made the fonts bigger so you have an easier time reading. see spot run.

It's like a good old fashioned ad campaign. The slogan? "Shooting Star - spewing out meaningless bullshit sprinkled with insults, in every thread he enters"

Good show old chap. Thanks for the priceless contributions you make....

I know I'm going to regret bringing this up, but what the hell ...

Write viri if you want (though it's actually the plural of vir, which means "man") but virii would be the plural of virius, not virus.
