simply use the [threadId] syntax, and the icon will match the type of thread, that is : Faq, active thread, archived thread ...

using[id# of thread]

[edit - that didn't work. the reception area is at Hi I'm new here (at the Ozone Asylum) what do I need to know?

[edit2 - i got the id# from the address bar to get that working

speaking of icons, i think there is a small problem with the favicon:

link rel="shortcut icon" type="image/png" href="http://www.ozoneasylum.com/images/layouts/ozoneasylum/favicon.ico"

i think it should be

type="image/icon"
or
type="image/x-icon"

then, it would also show up in the bookmarks.

btw: where are there so many absolute urls in the code?

added to the ->todolist , grumble.

Regarding the 'absolute' urls - grails can run anywhere and dynamically build their urls from their config file.
It was a lot less trouble than running into the whole 'website at /' vs website '/in/some/directory/' buisness.

Regarding the absolute URLs, you could put a <base href="http//www.ozoneasylum.com/" /> in the HEAD. For this page it would save 13% ( 4683 bytes ) of the actual size of the HTML markup. The percentage seems to be the same for the main page of the Asylum.

hey poi, could you also calculate how much would be saved if the whitespace for indents would be left out?

I suppose your kidding, but whatever, it takes 10 seconds to calculate that it would save 4.25% ( 1631 bytes ) on this page.

what software do you use to count those certain whitespaces?

I've copy pasted the HTML markup in UltraEdit, noted the file size, selected the whole thing and pressed Shift+Tab till it was fully unindented and then noted the new file size. I know a REGEX replace does the job faster but I find it easier to bash Shift+Tab like a monkey

Well, since the mod_gzip is activated, the advantage to trim the HTML markup are almost null.

that, and I always rather liked it that you could actually *read* the html the grail outputs.
