Well I finally launched 'The Lost City of Tinnos'. It's my website. I've been developing it for quite awhile now and launched it yesterday morning. I spent most of the day working on the content aspect. I haven't slept and seriously doubt I'll sleep today, not at least until later.

Well, below is the link. Don't be too harsh!

That's a LOT of content, no doubt about it. I would seriously consider, somehow making the look abit more organized. As it is now, with the color scheme (white, with your blue-gray), there are huge areas of white - with your blue-grey text content (whith some graphics here and there, inbetween).

As such, it is very difficult, to see where one content part ends, and the other begins, which rapidly leads to content overload. I would consider using color to seperate the areas, maybe occasionally using the blue-grey as background? here is an example, of how one website solved this Justice4Pat. Notice how color was used, to seperate content?

The sides (left and right) suffer from this most - it is hard to discern a difference from them and the middle, where your main content is.

The header - the main place on your website - is rather...bland. It also says nothing about the Lost city of Tinnos. What is the Lost City of Tinnos? It also appears to be very empty...though maybe there will be more buttons/links for Nav there?

If I have to ask that...then it needs to be better presented.

The calender and the Chatbox I find to be in a nice place.

I find the colors to be ok, nothing grating, etc, and they work harmoniously together. I think a bit better usage of them, would make the website much easier to read - at least, to seperate the content from one another.

Text/font - looks nice, no problems with it (though TwItch^ might have something else to say about that...hehe.) However, I don't understand why you sporadically use black. It seems rather arbitrarily used...

All in all, not a bad start...nothing major, in that sense other than the above.

Thank you WebHaman for your time!

The header is bland, I agree. I am currently designing a logo. As for the navigation, there will be more in time.

You speak of it being hard to view the content and read it effectively? I am using horizontal and vertical lines. I will however take to heart your suggestion about better useage of the colors to seperate the content from one-another.

If you take a closer look, you'll notice I use the color black quite a bit for the text. I don't believe Im using it sporadically however I'll be eager to see what the others have to say too.

I again thank you for your advice and time and will keep all of your suggestions and comments in mind while I continue to modify the sites design. Thanks much!

Black Hat - here are examples, of using color to seperate and catalog content:

Samoana Online (forgive me, LaSun! )
Bioware
Gamespot

There are many more out there. See the huge difference, between them, the display and ease of content management, and yours?

While I do find the bouncing boobies amusing, I think using that image as your sig (which I have to assume is not your work even) which also links from your page to a hentai site is a pretty poor idea...

Other than that -

The overall appearance is pretty bland. I have to say it's one of those 'you seen one, you seen em all' kind of sites. It feels very much like one of those "download our free templates" based sites. Visually, I am left totally unimpressed. "blah" is the most fitting word.

I also must second WS' comments about the *total* lack of visual heirarchy and the seperation/differentiation of 'content'. There is nothing anywhere (aside from the bouncing boobies) to draw your eye....anywhere.

The vast majority of both the design and the content seem to have nothing to do with anything you've done - it's either collected content or something someone made for you...
The forum is a pre-made forum, the gallery is a pre-made gallery...I am left wondering what at all you have done?

As for the code - the list of validation errors stretches on for quite some time, which is - of course - never a good thing. 100% validation is not necessary of course, but wow...

About the only good thing I can find to say about the site is that there is nothing garrish anywhere.

But then there isn't much of anything else that stands out either (except, of course, for the bouncing boobies).

FWIW...
