Topic awaiting preservation: opinions? (Page 1 of 1)

Hi everyone,
Please bear with me for a while:
I'm new to Ph (and even newer here). My sad story is: I was hired to do the layout of a printed sf magazine - you know, pouring some text in some boxes, QXpress and so on - and after a while I found myself having to do the graphics... So this Summer I started to learn some Photoshop, cause at that time I barely knew where the shape tool was...
Anyway... There was this short story about some modern martial arts and people fighting - using dragon tails as weapons, altering the time continuum and staff and staff and staff. After serarching the net for some Komodo dragons pictures to work with, I gave up and tried smth on my own.
So here it is. Do you think it could work?

It's working fine for me right now but for the life of me I can't figure out what it is.

what is it you dont dare ask again .. perhaps you should clarify because your post isnt so clear.

do i think modern martial arts or temporal dragon tail when i look at this? - nope , not yet anyway .. i assume your still working on it.

But the tail doesnt seem too dragonish... it seems more tentaclish. Looks like tentacle porn has slipped back into the Asylum...

Obviously the tentacle or dragon tail is causing a temporal distortion in the space time continuum where it intersects with the visual wavelengths. Much like a pebble cast into a lake would cause ripples, this tail has dipped into our space-time and is now reaking havoc. This will probably cause all sorts of lunar anomalies tonight around 7ish PDT...


Actually, using a fire tut either by Mahqja or Dracos on a more dragonish tail might work...
Maybe a stegasaurus tail, or something with little bone plates would be better than a komodo tail...


But if anything happens to the moon tonight, it's all the fault of you and your little sf playmates!

Stupid me! I didn't think of looking for a stega tail or smth like that!
And yes, something DID happen to the moon - there was an eclipse. And a pretty strong earthquake after that. So I plead guilty.

Now I'm (trying to be) serious: people, I just began to scratch the surface of Photoshop, so every piece of advice you give me is more than welcome.

The tail seems alot like one of those Cat Scratcher thingys you know the ones cats just love scratching! The pavement and water (probably rain) makes it more medivilish than oriental, plus the colors certify it's medivil.

If you're going to be making some thing Oriental then remember this, (my own experience) the darker the light source the more evil and 16th century it's going to look, although increase the light and you'll eventually end up with something that is very much Japanese. I'd get rid of the pavement and make it look like its all water and the being whose tail appears to be dangling over the water is actually walking on it. Also is it just me or is the tail increasing in width as it goes down... or is a shadow play...

Oh well that's your headache, my suggestion is more light and more colours prove it's Oriental and not 16th Century.
