I have filters set up that catch most of it. Also I have a system that works for me. Anyplace that wants my email address gets a custom address just for them. For example the address I have posted here is asylum@wavmixer.com . If I go to www.fubar.com and they ask for my email address, I give them fubar@wavmixer.com. Now if I start getting spam to fubar@wavmixer.com, I filter it directly into the trash. I also know that fubar.com whored out my email address and will no longer get my business. Yes I agree that 1000+ spams is far too much, but since I have been using this sytem, only a small handfull of spams get my attention, the rest get deleted without ever seeing them. quote:

That sounds like it would take more energy then its worth Wavemixer. Personally, I rarely get spam. My method is real simple. I have two accounts: school & gmail. I give out my school account to those I want to talk with. When I register for something I use my gmail account. There are a few websites that I use regularly (like Amazon.com) and receive email from so I've set up specific folders for these sites. Other then that, all spam I get is deleted immediately. Microsoft Entourage does a nice job of filtering the spam that gets through my school account. |

I have 2 accounts, one through PeoplePC (10.95/mo dialup, wonderful service ) and one on my website, but I seem to NEVER get spam... very rarely if at all. My method involves not throwing my email addy out like I want spam, seems to be working. |
