Topic: my new site - need reviews (Page 1 of 1)

Now, I know I need to convert the tables to .CSS - but that'll be a new road for me and IXI said he'd work with me on it and Ive already learned a lot. Be honest, throw your suggestions at me, I already know you guys are going to hammer me.

Things I already know:

**need to convert tables to .CSS (I will eventually)
***Need to clean up the code (I too will obsess over it eventually).

So, aside from that, go ahead... Hammer on me!

Well, to be totally honest...

I don't know what I am supposed to review exactly.

You've got an image, which for some reason I haven't looked into I can't actually see - it's just black. If I right-click and view image, I see it no problem. Back to the page...can't see it.

Other than that, it's a column of links, and a block of text, mostly saying "nothing here, come back later".

In addition, I am guessing that the image in question is not one that you made? If I am correct in that, I am curious what the source of the image is.

I don't know what you're looking for here, or what exactly needs reviewing.

I just want overall impressions. Thats all Im really looking for. See, I tried a lot of new stuff with this and it took me awhile and even tho its easy for you guys, it wasn't for me. Im phishing for compliments :P

There's just nothing there to review. I don't mean to belittle your efforts in this, it's great that you are trying new approaches, and opening your eyes up to CSS and the like.

It's not unnactractive.
But....It's just a black page with a column of text links...

I have no idea what Stargate Atlantis is. How does it tie into what you're doing?

Like DL said, its just a black background, some white text, and an image. It doesn't make much of an impression. Maybe spend a bit more time browsing around and trying new things?

The picture should link to something... Perhaps you can link to another page that tells why you like that picture. It's got alt text but there is no info.


A tiny little copyright "C" and where you got the pic from would be good...
cuz' the little copyright link at the bottom points to a "Not Found" page.

Of course there is nothing wrong with M$ bashing, it's a recognized 'Web Sport', but it also should be noted that the big news story these days is that IE's market share has dropped to 90%.

90%! Hate them or not, 90% of the people out there use them... so rather than bash what those 90% are using, perhaps it would be better to just make your site conform. Resistance is futile. Prepare to be assimilated.

looks ok to me

i'm sure it will improve as you learn

one thing you could loose to improve it the most would be the foul language

it give one a sense that you have a bad attitude

thus discouraging repeat visitors

unless of course you are catering to that particular crowd
