Topic awaiting preservation: putting thins in the center in Illustrator

Okay here's my dilema:

I need to put a number in the center of a circle. It looks really wonky when I do it by eye.

try a different typeface, numbers in a circle can appear wonky at times depending on the spatial relationship of character(s) to circle! If you're trying to do a lot of circle number combos for a "set of numbers" it can be een harder to get them all "withit". Sad truth.

, so there's no magic button to press. Well the font I'm using is a bit blocky. The way I have it centered now is when you start to really look at it. The number's in the circles are wavy[some are a bit higher than the others]. Hopefully the people in the school won't notice that the numbers are a bit wonky.

If you don't need to alter the type further, you might just convert the text to outlines. That should generate a bounding box that's the size of your actual type. Then use the Align Palette.
