(It's on the layer palette itself, usually it just says "normal". Check it out!) " I can't find how to make it so, I look and couldn't find an option saying "layer set to screen"

Now the best thing I may suggest you is to read the manual in the box, when you purchased Photoshop. Everything you need/want to know is written black on white in it. You could also use the Help in PhotoShop itself. Cheers and enjoy your stay.
