Congrats on the nephew/niece (do you know already?), it'll change a little somthing in you forever anyhow, that is real world magic. I have four nieces and a nephew, it, well... nothing compares, I understand your joy. Back to topic: It's more a matter of specification, webdesigners xor software engineers. Ok, specification is for insects, agreed, but, well... oh well, dunno, really: there's a limit to polyvalence when things are pushed to a higher level. Reallyreally. It isn't a matter of webdesigners < software engineers: I agree with your second point, but I feel the DHTML forum is uncomfortable for people who need a clock to work and people able to help them nicely implement this in a web application context. People who handle php, javascript, graphic design well, and communication, and can juggle with these skills without being too specifically bound to low level software engineering. I don't expect someone who doesn't have a formal software engineering education, even with the brightest mind, and God knows this forum hosts some, to "guess them all." I am amazed everyday at what Doc Ozone does, has done years ago, even, all those things shine brightly. But memory allocation, tipycally, and the inner workings of a computer, are complex and painful topics for beginners. I know, I've tried learning all there is to know on my own, I'm just starting to get a formal education, and while intuition and the web had done a great job, academy is helpful. And what happened this morning, when Doc O popped a thread about a clock, reminded me that some people, amazed at nice snippets, need to learn how to place a clock script in a web page anyway.
