aspro13 Obsessive-Compulsive (I) Inmate From: Insane since: Dec 2004	posted 12-15-2004 08:47 I am trying to help out a friend that is running WinXP Pro on his laptop and have come accross a strange problem. Everytime he launches IE, his computer comes up with a BSOD saying there is an error in page_file in the VSY32.sys file. It then states that you may need to update windows to correct this problem. It then dumps all your virtual memory to disk. This problem only occors when running IE. We have tried reinstalling IE and running spyware programs (eg, Spybot S&D) to no avail. I cannot update from the windows as that requires IE. Can anyone please help me??? "In a world of order, chaos is the ruler"

If you could find the exact location of the file and perhaps which program it pertains to that would be useful in diagnosing the problem. Shy of that, is the automatic update service on? Try turning it on and setting it to automatically download and install. After running quote: "sfc /scannow" , things started to work for awhile until the problem decided to reapear somewhere else. After much searching, we found that it was Norton Internet causing the problem somehow. Once it was dissabled, everything started to work fine once more. This is the second time that I have come accross strange problems with norton. The first time was on my own computer when for some reason it caused it to keep shutting down for no reason. So I havw come to the conclusion it is best to stay away from norton and rely on other brands on anti-virus.
