Here we call them plovers but they are more correctly "vanellus miles" - Masked Lapwing. When they have their chicks they are very aggro; in fact, the only reason I noticed these ones was because the mother ran onto the road chasing my car |

He, it's the male that sits on the chicks, is actually sitting on about 5-6 chicks - that's why the feathers at the side, near the ground, are all fluffed out. It was just the one, lone chick that wouldn't quite fit under, in the rush to hide from the big, bad man in the car |
