I don't spend nearly as much time as I use to around here or the GN so I apologise if this has been posted before.
Anyways, as the thread topic says OS X running on a PC is somewhat of a holy grail for most of us PC bound web developers - seems this is now a reality. Pear PC is a Power PC emulator that can run on *nix and Windows, the screenshots here show it running OS X and other various Mac programs:
http://pearpc.sourceforge.net/screenshots.html
I've no idea how stable or fast it is, but anything is better than nothing. I'm also not aware of the legalties of the program and in turn the software that you run on it, but for those needing to test websites on OS X this would certainly be a cheaper solution than purchasing a Mac to run it. The recommended system specs are quite high thought (2 Ghz CPU & 512 MB Ram are the recommended min specs) A community site about Pear PC can also be found at: http://pearpc.net/index.php

We have done so.

Oh it's a freakin' emulator...
For a moment there I thought my Birthday Wish came true! Oh well... guess I'm still stuck with Windows yet again...

If you're getting tired of windows, you could always try litestep. (you have to register, but there's always bugmenot.com
It replaces the explorer shell with its own. From my experience, it's main shell has much less overhead than explorer and you can do some really cool things with it. I'll update once I do some further testing.
Like installing windows 2000 server onto a Pentium133 laptop with the litestep shell.

I've got litestep on my system (the installer) used it a couple of times also but I prefer not to meddle with the crappy default windows settings I've already had enough trouble with my system as it is...

Yeah, I've noticed that too. Windows does seem to grow on you. Especially you know all of its faults by heart. I always end uninstalling any windows customizers after a day but I'm determined to give litestep a try since my one pet peeve with windows is the overhead of the explorer shell. We shall see.

If you are seriously in business doing web development, use BrowserCam. We've been using it for quite some time and it gives you almost every browser scenario.

Sheesh, just install Linux already and stop whining about Windows. I have had lots of problems with Cygwin that are easily remedied by simply dual-booting Linux. And if you still need those Windows apps, grab a Windows emulator. Windows is the weakest link, you want to emulate it, not emulate something on it, heh.
InI: It's worth noting that Safari != Konqueror. There are many differences between the two. I find many things that work in Safari do not work in Konqueror, though you can be fairly confident that if something works in Konqueror it will work in Safari.

Tried that but apparently my freakin' hard disk has some problem with Linux! I downloaded Fedora and tried installing it but instead it wrecked my PC I had to reformat the stupid hardware 5 times until I finally got it running properly! Then to my amazment my brother tried installing it and what do you know it works absolutely perfect on his system... grrrrrrrrr... he hasn't any use of it just wanted to check so he got rid of it or I would have used it but it was making his system pretty slow... when will I be rid of Windows!

I'm on a laptop, and never had problems installing Linux. However, I've always specifically avoided Red Hat / Fedora since they were always overblown, bulky, and slow in my opinion. I started with SuSE, and from there gone with a lot of distros, my favorites being Slackware and Arch (which I currently run).
Your error probably came from a bad repartitioning. The most tricky step of any install. :/

I fully understand and accept reasons a and b, they are the same reasons I put up with Windows. I simply dual boot.

You could resize your partitions. qtparted (the tool I use) is capable of resizing NTFS rather safely (of course, there is always a slight risk, but I assume you backup, right? ) You can get it on any Knoppix boot CD.
That's what I had to do to reclaim space from Windows. Also, if you do, make sure you defragment first.
