As if anyone cared, I have to disagree with some things: You can work towards standards no matter the browser you use to start because they all fail at complying 100% with standards, all of them. Granted, IE is known to have the weirdest box model around and an odd css implementation, but the browsers that bugged me most, and still do, when revamping my site, were Opera and Moz. Opera, apparently because of a corrupt setup, I managed to fix that. Mozilla, because there is security problem with the latest JRE from SUN and scriptable applets get unstable for no reason... As for Open Source meaning bugs corrected quickly, yes and no: there's such an inertia to a community process that while I don't doubt that bug will be spotted and corrected, either by Sun or the Mozilla foundation, I gave up reporting the bug myself, it just was too much of a hassle to get it in, get it to be reproduced, and finally, get a deadline for a future fix (in this particular case, the crash occured without the processed being killed, without Windows or FF throwing an error, and without the JVM logging an error: what happened was that the VM went in an infinite loop, and Firefox disappeared visually without crashing or returning it's memory, it just hung and became invisible).
