Alright so I just threw up this quick little site as a resume. Just 3 little pages. I still have to figure out what I'm going to say for the Home/About Me part (besides Lorem Ipsum), but other than that I'm finished, and I just wanted to know if there's anything that could be fixed or improved upon. Or even if there's anything that you really like and that I should make sure to do again. Also I know there are a lot of those W3C Validator image links going around on sites these days, is that something I should include at the bottom for prospective employers, or would that just be a waste of time?

just a quick thought (sorry, i'm kinda busy right now) - you could use at least one more color in your content why dont you make use of the orange which you have up there in the header?

This might not be what you're after, but looking through your resume I noticed a couple mistakes

  • PHP, and MySQL>
  • " Developed a fun and usable website

it might not seem like much, but when it's on a professional resume it makes a dif. (or so I've been told by my technical report writing teacher )

Thanks for the couple of comments. Typos are fixed. I'm not sure quite how to incorporate the orange, although I definitley agree with you. Also I just wanted to say that I have another little site up, http://www.seattlan.com that uses the same layout, it's just different content pretty much. So feel free to nit pick either one, or both. Not quite sure how I'm going to work in the orange, any ideas?

I think you should code in XHTML the site is very simple. Your body need ony be 3 divs, 2 if you use a list for your link container. If you want to show some web savy you are going to need to show that you are using the newest stuff, it (front-end web development) is still a fast paced growing field and you need to show people that you are on the ball with the technology.

Ok, so after you fix your code it would be time to think about style. Pick a focus for the site and go for that, don't go over the top, but pick a few colors, maybe a stock photo or two and make them work towards a well a site the embodies your message. If you want to sell yourself as a computer guy go with a computer theme, it can be a little cheesey and over the top, that can be good, but right now it is a very bland understated design. Spruce it up a bit, make it happier.

I don't believe how a site that simple couldn't have been made in CSS... you obviously teach CSS (according to your resume that is) making the following layout with using just your face as an image isn't going to be very hard. Give it a try.

Nothing to add except that I'm worried about the practices you taught to your students.
