I do believe that the future/evolution or RDBMS will consist of OODBMS. A number of systems are available and have been growing each year. Something you might be interested in looking at is a product called "Hibernate" (http://www.hibernate.org) which is helping in taking the pain out of OO design and Relational Databases. This would be an interesting choice for you next project as well. |

In comparing XML and RDBMSs aren't you, as they say, comparing apples and oranges? Mind you, I'm no expert with either, but it's my impression that XML is mainly just a schema for moving data from one program, or computer, etc. to another. An RDBMS is a tool for managing, analyzing, and maintaining that data. |
