Is there a way to make the Navigation DIV have the same height as the Contents DIV, in the layout below. The Contents DIV is supposed to be fluid (height will be given by the amount of text inside).

I cannot use an image to fake the navigational column because I need a DIV. I need a DIV because all the corners of all DIVs will have rounded gifs. Note that there is a DIV, named .middle_container, that useless so far. My idea was to use it to make the Navigation DIV goes down all the way but I can't figure out a way.

I have switched to a table design.
But, I need DIVs inside the cells, so, I didn't get rid of them.

My problem now. Is there a way to make IE6 and Opera7 render this page just like Firefox, Netscape and Mozilla do?

The problem with IE and Opera is that they don't make the Navigation DIV with the height of 100% of the available cell height.

Any thoughts?

A quick fix could be to make your rounded corners by using the background of the footer and eventually of the header
You'll certainly need to give them a zIndex and a position:relative; or something to make them slightly overlap the content area.

Hope that helps,

Okay, poi, thanks.

I will try and use the DIV layout but with a javascript to force the height of the DIV to be what I want.

The biggest problem about DIVs is that many times one has to adapt to them, because they simply do not adapt to one's needs.
