Hi, how you doing?
yesterday I installed MySQL version 4.7(4.something) on my laptop.
When I start it, I opened a window like command prompt.
Then I was required to input password.
But I have no idea what it is.
Does anyone help me out???
Cheers.

I believe the MySQL defaults to root as the user with no password.

Thanks for your reply. But I am afraid I am not sure what you mean.
When I open a window like comand prompt, the first line clearly said:
Password>
Humm....What should I do?

The MySQL password by default is blank. There is no password. You have to set this up on your own. If there is a password prompt then you must look into the specific installation you followed and try to figure out where one might have been set. If you are using the default MySQL installer then there will be no password. In the case where you can not get by without needing some password, I would reccommend that you uninstall the software, reinstall it and read all of the directions (spawned by the installer) along the way.

If you still have problems try the mysql mailing lists, or some mysql groups on IRC.

Many thanks, mate. Yeah, I uninstalled and watched the all the procedure carefully. But I might have missed something. I will do that again. Thanks for your help. Cheers.
