That's it, firefox 1.0.1 released to correct some bugs, including that one about international domains.

That was happens when it started to become famous.

I mentionned the release of Firefox 1.0.1 in Scary domain exploit, but indeed it's worth a dedicated thread.

And at the risk of repeating myself, the Internationnal Domain Name problem comes from VeriSign's i-Nav Plug-In, not from the browsers vendors who implemented the IDN specs. IE is not affected simply because IDN is one of the various specs they have not implemented.

I took the opportunity to do some tweaking and repairs before installing 1.0.1and so far things are looking great.
First of all I have not been able to view Flash content with Firefox since version 8 or 9. I followed the instructions detailed here

quote:
When you install Mozilla Firefox 0.9 (or later) or Mozilla 1.7 (or later), you may experience problems viewing Macromedia Flash content if you had a previous version of Firefox or Mozilla and extensions installed to block ads or Flash. Examples include AdBlock and Flash Click To View.

Before installing a new version of Firefox or Mozilla, you should uninstall your previous version, and remove the chrome and extensions folders from your profile - but back up userChrome.css and userContent.css first if you use them.

Dedicated Flash blocking extensions will need to be updated to work with new Firefox and Mozilla releases before you can use them, as the Flash blocking code tends to break between Mozilla releases.

This problem is also caused by the Flash filtering code in old releases of AdBlock, and does not appear to require the user to enable it. Updating AdBlock to version 0.52 or later should solve this problem.

This worked for me and I now have a happy flash foxy
I also read a post on the PSG forum from Eric detailing how to edit the user js file to speed up browsing. I have tried this and it does seem to speed things up a little. Here is the same information on the Mozilla Tips and Tricks page (near the bottom of the page)
You are advised to back up your js file before making any alterations
Has anyone else tried this? if so what are your findings? Now that I am writing this I'm not 100% sure that it is not just my imagination "running away with me" or if pages are loading just that bit quicker. Waddya think

Thanks CPrompt Yes that's the one I was talking about. Things do seem to be moving along a bit faster with foxy. I'll have to have a look at poi's links too now
