this has got to be a joke or just horrible spam
i decided to run Spybot as i type, but it won't come up again

i click ok and got another Messenger Service window:

Message from WINDOWS to ALERT on 3/9/2005 4:30:33 PM

SYSTEM ERROR: Windows has detected Spyware running on your computer.

Spyware can damage critical system files, track your online activities and display pop-ups.

Anti-Virus and Firewall software can not protect you.

Visit: www.win-fix.com for free removal information!

damn. 2 more repeats of above messages
ok running spybot again and sending them the above info

this has got to be either a virus or spyware. my antivirus is AVG and firewall is ZoneAlarm. both of which work just fine.. i must have caught this when i was upgrading a few minutes ago and zonealarm was off for a minute or so

You need to ignore these.

Turn Off Messenger Service

The Messenger Service is a legacy system used for networked IM type functionality that's no longer needed.
