Topic awaiting preservation: wireless hifi?

I've been thinking I would like to use my computer as a stereo and run the music through my wireless lan to wireless speakers. Problem is I'm not even sure if this is possible in this simple a form. Is anybody doing anything like this in their home and what would it take to set it up in multiple rooms? Both personal experience and links are welcome.

I have an FM transmiter hooked to my headphone jack on my Mac, so my wireless headphones let me listen to tunes anywhere in the condo at any hour of the day without disturbing my roomate. But this is completly seperate from my wireless lan.

I've done a bit more searching since I posted and found this that looks like a promising start for what I want. I'm just not sure about adding wireless speakers to it yet.

Both Dlink and Linksys offer compatible stereo setups for you wireless network
I have this.
Its good for hauling around the house.
They both have units that will interface with your home system
linksys and Dlink

but the best sound for home audio is my audigy platinum with fiber connection to the home theater. This certainly is not as flexible as the wireless options as I have to crank it up to hear it around the house and of course that only happens when my wifes gone. Hence the purchase of the Linksys to take out to the patio.

There has gotta be a less expensive piece of gear out there but I didn't really take the time to research it. I just pointed it out at Best Buy and it showed up on Xmas
