My question is: How can I keep IIS from re-setting port when I use Apache2? Let me explain what I am saying. I just installed PHP5 and Apache2 on my laptop which is on Win XP Pro. I figured out if I run IIS, Apache2 won't run, right? I changed port of IIS from 80 to 81 cuz Apache2 config file set port 80 for itself. IIS and Apache2 cannot use same port, right? I want IIS port whatever but not 80 as default. I don't want to set and set each time. Please take me out of this hell.... Many thanx, cheers.

Open up the Apache config, and change the Listen directive to whatever port.

Your problem on the other hand is a bit different... you it seems want to have both IIS and Apache running on the same system. Now I know it's not possible to have both of them on the same port but I don't think it's even wise to have them both running simultaneously... then again I use XAMPP I could be wrong! I quit all that hardcore PHP, MySQL etc installing and just went for the short cut... XAMPP RULEZ! Try disabling IIS then enabling Apache perhaps that'll work... again I'm no expert.

Let me explain what I am saying.

I've never really had this problem, but I've never changed the port for IIS either.

I've had both of them running simultaneously for a long time without any problems.
