Breaking the site apart for a fluid design is quite simple. Instead of using fixed widths just enter percentages but you'll have to do some math to make it look nicely evened, not that much just a little ;) Also I'm finding the gap between the links and the little boxes a tad bit over, considering placing an advert there?? Because it's kind of distracting... I just noticed this... your background isn't just a single color but three shades of a single color. You're going to have to do some extra work there to make it look nicely smooth in CSS if you're considering variable width. If not good work!
