Topic awaiting preservation: is overburn safe?

not being experienced in these burning matters, wanted to ask your advice. have a set of files never exceeding 715MB but only 700MB cd's available for burning them. Currently using nero and it gives little margin of maneuver, but does allow files a little over 700MB to be burned into these cd's. Knowing how to tweak this option inside nero, wanted to know how safe is it first.

715MB should cause you no problems at all.

To be perfectly honest, it comes down to the quality of the CDs you use. The better the product quality, the more likely that the 'overburned' data will survive completely intact.

It is not unusual to achieve 740-780MB with fair-quality CDs, but anything below 720MB should be easy.

Make sure that you select the 'Verify data' tickbox so that you can be assured of the data's integrity. This will extend the time it takes to burn (running through the entire CD after the burn, checking against the source data) but at least you won't try the disc later only to find that the last few megabytes are Swiss Cheese.
